| Literary
agency
Anthony Haynes writes: My
aim as literary agent is to help academic and professional
authors to:
- find the right publisher
- get the best contractual terms
- get paid promptly and accurately
- be able to devote their time to writing and research
rather than business affairs
- be free to talk to editors about writing instead of commercial
concerns
- understand how the book industry works
- build an authorial career
I also like authors to feel there’s someone alongside
them to exchange ideas, provide support and encouragement,
share enthusiasm, and, where necessary, chivvy!
Authors represented include: Lucie Armitt; Daniel
Ben-Ami; John Blundell; Eamonn Butler; Spinder Dhaliwal; Frank Furedi; Helene
Guldberg; Louisa
Leaman; and Jeremy Stangroom.
Anthony Haynes opened doors for me as an author and got me a
contract with an international publishing company. He always
gives clear and sound advice and acts as an excellent sounding board – Dr Spinder Dhaliwal

An
alternative to agency
Anthony Haynes writes: Do you feel that you’d
like assistance with one or more the following without employing
the full services of a literary agent?
- Designing book proposals
- Approaching publishers
- Negotiating contracts
If so, I’d be pleased to talk to you about how to get
published and improve your terms with publishers. Our assistance
is based on a tariff of affordable set fees, available on
request.
